Sonnet: Is My Good Mother an Analogy?

Is my good Mother an analogy?
She said to me, “From Heaven you were sent
And to God, a son, as you are to me
Yet He lone is omnibenevolent.”

But with virtue the act isn’t harmonized
—Of releasing Evil on Earth to trod,
And who can number the sons who have died
Lacking aid from an omnipotent God?

Steadfast, she assures His approbation:
“Evil is in accordance to His plan,
And His flattery by imitation
Is the admission into Heaven’s land.”

So: Like God can she so idly observe
her children suffer in peaceful reserve?
