Drifting Apart

There never were latches that spanned the sea
Securing land drifting away from me.

There never were latches that spanned the sea
Like the bridge stretching I-74
From the dark sylvan slough banking Moline
To the hilly base of the western door.

There never were latches that spanned the sea
To halt the ever-widening ravine
That runs New Hampshire and Holland between,
Keeping love waiting on the other shore
Just one mile away--not three thousand more
--Like the bridge stretching I-74.

There never were latches that spanned the sea.
Securing land drifting away from me.

Beyond The Sea

A woman put before my eyes
Yet pierces my inept disguise,
Taken from beyond the sea,
Abandoned only to torment me.

Though pearls of evergreen waterfalls
Reflect my thoughts and longing calls,
Only I remain in lonesome haze,
Fallen in dusty, dark malaise.

Words we use to say our love,
To touch our hearts, to rise above,
Yet thoughts conceived in purest mind
Shadow all that can be defined.

Haiku: Vegas Baby!

I left the dark land
From thievery, smut and lights
A migrating bird.

Haiku: Affairs

Scandalous woman,
In his house and to his face
She lies profusely.
